Zigaura (a.k.a Ziggy)

Zigaura (a.k.a Ziggy)

What a fantastic horse Ziggy has been in the past and continues to be so today. If any horse deserves a happy and contented retirement this is the one. She had an extremely successful racing career, trained by David Elsworth, during which time she ran in five Group races including a second place in the Cherry Hinton at Newmarket and in the 1991 2000 Guineas which was won by Shadayid. She accumulated over £141,000 in prize money before being retired to stud duties.

Ziggy then travelled to several countries including Ireland, France, the United States and Spain producing foals (we think there were 8-10 in total). Throughout this time her original owner Julia Ohlsson had been keeping tabs on her and when she heard that she had produced what was to be her last foal she contacted the stud owners in Spain and made arrangements to bring her back to the UK to see out her days here at Belmoredean.
Born in 1988, Ziggy is a very classy lady who has earned her retirement and our respect several times over. She is a lovely character and a pleasure to have around and will be available to give hoofographs at the next open
